Political Culture moves to AfterBuzz TV starting Tuesday, September 5th!

By Drexel Heard

Starting September 5th, Political Culture has a new home. AfterBuzzTV’s Chief Political Analysts and Co-Hosts of Political Culture, Drexel Heard and Chelsea Galicia will bring the new season of the weekly political show for millennials to AfterbuzzTV joining The Trump Report.

Political Culture launched it’s first episode on Black Hollywood Live last year, after transitioning from Black Tea Party and has grown over the months with panel discussions, special guests, and news from the 2016 election and headlines from Washington and around the country.

“The move from Black Hollywood Live to AfterBuzz TV was something we talked about for a few months after the 2016 election, and the timing made sense as the networks continue to restructure and grow,” said producer and host Drexel Heard.

The upcoming season will feature more prominent guests, in-depth policy discussions, 2018 races across the country, and more. Drexel and Chelsea will also produce a series of new news-focused shows on AfterBuzzTV, starting with the addition of AfterBuzzTV’s Brooke Taylor Solis to the team hosting the new headline news roundup The Buzz on September 8th.

AfterBuzzTV is owned by Maria Menounos and Kevin Undagaro, and Executive Produced by Phil Svitek. All shows stream live on www.afterbuzztv.com, YouTube, and can be heard on iTunes podcast.

Jared Kushner Speaks Out for First Time Since Trump’s Inauguration

By: Ali Marashi

Jared Kushner, the senior advisor to the president, spoke out publicly for the first time since his father-in-law assumed the presidency.

He spoke to a roundtable of tech leaders about the opioid epidemic in America and peace deals with the Middle East. Topics of government technology modernization and record keeping were main concerns at the meeting.

Kushner specifically addressed how his team plans to to move forward with their plans surrounding the electronic medical records systems of Veteran’s Affairs and the Department of Defense. However, rumors state that Kushner might be reconsidering the legal team investigating Trump’s administration ties to Russia.

Although Kushner has abstained the public eye since the election, he still has strong influence in the White House. In the interview covered by CBS, Kushner and other White House officials “set ambitious goals and empowered inter-agency teams to tackle our objectives.”

“It’s working,” said Kushner. “It’s very exciting.” Hopefully, Jared Kushner plans to keep the citizens of America more informed about White House Affairs moving forward.

Press Sec Sean Spicer Dodges Reporters

By: Jeff Graham

It’s been a turbulent three days for President Donald Trump, and the recent firing of press secretary James Comey is introducing a storm of reactions and conjectures.

Things got interesting with Mr. Trump tweeted this at 5am PST:

The implications of this tweet are potentially dangerous for Mr. Trump, because he’s introducing legitimate threats in his verbiage, and there is now a written record of the remark.

When asked about the tweet, press secretary Sean Spicer offered, “The president has nothing further to add on that,”He’s simply stated a fact,” Spicer said. “The tweet speaks for itself. I’m moving on.”

Democrat RepsElijah Cummings and John Conyers, not taking Trump’s statement lightly, requested “all documents, memoranda, analyses, emails, and other communications relating to the President decision to dismiss Director Comey.”

White House Fires It’s First Female Chief Usher Angella Reid

Screen Shot 2017-05-07 at 5.22.36 PM

By: Briana Phipps

The Trump White House on Friday fired its chief usher, Angella Reid, the first woman and second African-American to hold the position, reports The Washington Post. Reid was hired under President Obama in October 2011.

Asked why the Trump administration felt it necessary to let her go, Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told reporters Friday,“It’s not uncommon you might have a transition of staff when a new administration comes in and it’s certainly nothing more than that.”

“She is no longer employed here at the White House but we left on very good terms and wish for the best,” Huckabee Sanders continued.

Duties of a chief usher, as explained in a 2011 statement from the First Lady’s Office, include “overseeing all aspects of the operations and activities within the Executive Residence and on the Executive Residence grounds.” The role oversees butler, maid, chef, florist and electrician staffs in addition to fiscal, administrative and personnel duties. The chief usher also works closely with the first family on matters including art, decor and furnishings.

Only nine people have held the title. Reid followed Admiral Stephen W. Rochon, the first black usher, after he left for a job at the Department of Homeland Security.

Prior to joining the White House staff, Reid was general manager of the Pentagon City Ritz-Carlton.

ABC News Launches Coverage of Trump’s First 100 Days Amid POTUS Downplaying Benchmark

Screen Shot 2017-04-23 at 4.54.44 PM

By: Briana Phipps

Donald Trump ripped the “ridiculous standard” of the first 100 days in office as a benchmark, but ABC News senior vice president Tom Cibrowski disagrees with the president.

“We think it’s important for all of our platforms to take a step back and look at what President Trump has said, what he has accomplished and the challenges he’s faced so far, and get a sense of what Americans from all parts feel about the direction of the country right now,” Cibrowski told TheWrap.

While 100 days is a small portion of a four-year term, many historians, cable news programs, political watchdogs — and Trump himself as a candidate — cite the first 100 days of a presidency as a significant benchmark.

“So much has happened over the past three months,” Cibrowski said. “ABC News will devote significant resources the entire week leading up to the 100th day to report on the key moments during this administration.”

As Trump’s first 100 days wind down, he took to Twitter on Friday to predict the stories that will be written to analyze his progress and mock the benchmark.

Trump’s tweets aside, ABC News will help lead the charge when it comes to examining President Trump’s first 100 days.

“Trump’s First 100” special coverage airs April 23-29 with a variety of programming scheduled to report from across America and overseas, covering issues from healthcare and immigration to jobs and foreign policy. ABC News will speak with voters on their expectations and reactions to Trump’s performance so far.

“This Week with George Stephanopoulos” will begin the week’s coverage with Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ first Sunday show interview since joining the administration. The show will also unveil a new ABC News/Washington Post poll that assesses how the American people view President Trump’s first 100 days.

“Good Morning America” will feature the “GMA Promise Tracker,” which examines how the president has followed though so far on his biggest platforms. Stephanopoulos and the entire ABC News political team will report on how the presidency is changing the Trump family and the way Trump uses Twitter as a political tool.

“World News Tonight” anchor David Muir will travel across the country to counties that were nearly evenly split between President Trump and Secretary Clinton supporters. Muir has been reporting from these factory towns for the past 5 years as a part of his “Made in America” series.

“Nightline” co-Anchor Dan Harris will report from a split-county in a swing state and look back at the Affordable Care Act in Kentucky to see how residents are feeling now. ABC News producers are also in on the action, revisiting key camping stops throughout the week.

New Book Takes Unsparing Look At ‘How the Democrats Can Win in the Trump Era’

Screen Shot 2017-04-09 at 7.13.49 PM

In his new ebook “How the Democrats Can Win in the Trump Era (Amazon Kindle), political analyst Earl Ofari Hutchinson takes a detailed look at what went wrong for the Democrats in 2016. And what they will have to do to take back Congress in 2018 and the White House in 2020.

Hutchinson notes: “That the Democrats have spent tens of millions of dollars on high priced ads, consultants, glossy literature, and organizing campaigns. Yet, they are still on a disastrous losing cycle of epic proportions. “

Here’s how bad things are with the Democrats according to Hutchinson:

“By 2016, the GOP had controlled the majority of the nation’s statehouses and governorships, both houses of Congress, and now the White House.” The brutal reality, Hutchinson, says, is that every turn both locally and now nationally the GOP has out resourced, out strategized, and out organized the Democrats. The Trump win was not the shock that most pundits and observers said it was. It came about precisely because of the GOP’s resource and organizing skill.

Hutchinson relates:

“Incoming Democratic National Chair, Perez knows that he and the Democrats have to make some changes, and make them fast. The sense of urgency to get fresh faces in key positions at the DNC is one key to reversing the Democrat’s fortunes in 2018 and 2020.”

Hutchinson notes that the DNC and the Democratic Party is bucking up against the notion that the party is much to beholden to corporate, big money interests and the party’s beltway establishment. That it has totally lost touch with how to wage a real in the trenches campaign on issues that touched the nerve of many blue-collar workers, minorities and youth.

In How the Democrats Can Win in the Trump Era, Hutchinson meticulously examines the criticisms, obstacles and the issues that have divided the Democrats. He takes a laser look at the fallings of the 2016 presidential campaign and shatters many of the assumptions and myths about it.

With the 2018 mid-terms looming, and another presidential election in 2020, the Democrats gargantuan task is to quickly find a way to reverse the Party’s ill fortunes and notch local and national wins. The daunting task before it is to find a way for the Democrats to win in the Trump era.

How the Democrats Can Win in the Trump Era presents an unsparing dissect of the obstacles the Democrats face to regain their local and national political competitiveness and what exactly they can and must do to overcome those obstacles and be a winning party again.

Alec Baldwin Pulls Double Duty, Interviews Trump as Bill O’Reilly on ‘SNL’

Screen Shot 2017-04-09 at 6.41.06 PM

Alec Baldwin pulled double duty on Saturday Night Live’s April 8 episode, starring as Bill O’Reilly in his very own no-spin zone, in which he even interviewed himself in a split-screen appearance as Trump.

Mocking the host for his recently resurfaced sexual harassment allegations, Baldwin’s version of O’Reilly kicked off his Fox News show by addressing “the scandal everyone’s been talking about all week,” he said, “the shocking allegations of abuse of power that have been leveled against … the Obama administration.”

After trying to avoid the subject, he finally got to the allegations against him, and O’Reilly admitted he has also been in the news as “women have come forward … and accused me of offering them exciting opportunities here at Fox News.”

One brave man, President Trump himself, appeared on the show to defend him once again.

Also played by Baldwin, Trump, a man “unimpeachable on all female issues,” told the host, “I actually see a lot of myself in you, Bill.”

O’Reilly thanked him for coming to his defense, even though Trump admitted he was recently “too busy being super presidential, bombing a bunch of shit.”

Earlier, Baldwin’s O’Reilly asked for reports from the network’s female employees, several of which he found out were “no longer with the company.”

“Did she get the check?” he asked, referring to the $13 million that was reportedly paid to female employees for keeping quiet about their sexual harassment claims. He ended up speaking with one female anchor, Malia Zimmerman, who chose to give her report “live via satellite, 500 yards away.”

She reported to O’Reilly on Susan Rice’s recent accusations of misconduct. “You asked her point blank? When she said no, did her eyes say yes?” he asked Zimmerman, played in the sketch by Cecily Strong. “What was her vibe? Was it like a firm no, or was it like, ‘convince me?'”

Before he went to commercial, O’Reilly made sure to thank his remaining sponsors, “dog cocaine” and “prescription-strength Eliquis,” after several advertisers dropped him this week because of the allegations.

Baldwin’s O’Reilly signed off by promoting his book, called Old School. “It’s about having great morals and values, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.”

‘The Simpsons’ to Parody Trump University 2 Days $25M Fraud Settlement Approved

Screen Shot 2017-04-03 at 5.38.23 PM

Tonight, “The Simpsons” will air a suspiciously timed new episode parodying Trump University, the now-defunct for-profit real estate college owned and operated by the Trump Organization until it went out of business in 2010.

The episode will feature “Burns University,” a for-profit college established by evil businessman Montgomery Burns, with guest appearances including Neil deGrasse Tyson. You can watch a preview of Tyson’s appearance as well as a look at the episode’s plot, in a video first posted by Indiewire, above.

As it happens, the episode will air just two days after final approval was granted for a $25 million settlement of three class action lawsuits brought against Trump by former students.

Approximately 3,370 former students alleged that the university had cheated them by use of high pressure sales techniques and outright lies about what they would get out of their time at Trump University.

The lawsuit became a campaign issue during the 2016 Presidential election, during which Trump consistently denied all charges and insisted he would fight them until the lawsuit was defeated.

However, less than two weeks after becoming President thanks to winning the electoral college despite losing the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes, Trump abruptly agreed to the $25 million settlement.

Here’s a not-so-alternative fact: Sarah Paulson would like to take on the role of Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway in the upcoming election-themed season of “American Horror Story.”

“AHS” veteran Paulson revealed her desire to play Conway to TVGuide.com. She also expressed her confusion over the fact that the once-ubiquitous Conway seems to have fallen off the radar lately.

“I’d love to play Kellyanne Conway,” Paulson said. “First of all, where is she? We haven’t seen her in a couple weeks. What’s going on? … She was everywhere. We could not get her to shut up. And now, where is she? … Don’t get me wrong. I’m appreciating the silence, the quiet, but I am curious. That’s an American horror story for you: What happened to Kellyanne Conway?”

Maybe she’s busy scouring the White House’s microwave ovens for cameras?

“AHS” boss Ryan Murphy told “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen in February that the upcoming seventh season will tackle last year’s political race between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton.

“I don’t have a title but the season when we begin shooting it is going to be about the election that we just went through,” Murphy said. “So I think that will be interesting for a lot of people.”
