BHL Disney Princess Casting Call

In the past few years, Disney has been remaking their classic animated films and turning them into live action movies.

Last year, it was announced that they are doing a live action film of The Little Mermaid and Halle Bailey got cast to play Ariel. Us fans are not only excited for one of our favorite Disney classics to come to life but to have another black Disney princess play the part.

That got us thinking on who would be our top black female celebrities to play our favorite Disney Princesses (which was a hard list to choose from).

The first original Disney Princess that came to our screens was Snow White. This classic already had a few different versions but if we wanted one of our favorite black actresses to take on the role, our pick would be Zendaya.

We love her long locks but we could see her rocking a short afro for the part and still look amazing.

The next question would be…who would we want to cast to play the Seven Dwarfs? We’ll save that topic for a different article.

Next, our favorite Princess who doesn’t have the best of luck with time or shoes but who is friendly with mice is Cinderella.

This film already had a remake with Brandy portraying Cinderella, Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother (best one so far), and Whoopie Goldberg bringing a humorous side as the Queen.

This is one of our favorite remakes of Cinderella and the onscreen chemistry between the actors was amazing. Plus, Brandy’s voice is unreal (we still have the soundtrack to this movie).

But if we were to have another version of Cinderella, we would want to cast Kat Graham.

She slayed playing Bonnie Bennett in The Vampire Diaries and we feel like she would make a great Cinderella. Kat is also a singer and we’re ready for an encore of A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes

Our next Princess is everyone’s favorite bookworm and believes that beauty comes from the inside. Emma Watson did an amazing job playing Belle from The Beauty and The Beast back in 2017.

However, this is one of our favorite fairy tales. We wouldn’t mind another remake and they should cast Gugu Mbatha-Raw to play the lovely Belle.

Fun fact, Gugu Mbatha-Raw also starred in the 2017 remake playing Plumette. She did great in that role. That’s why we would love to see her portray Belle this time around.

This Disney Princess sleeps way too much, but always looks flawless.  Aurora from Sleeping Beauty is our next favorite Princess and Zoe Saldana would be great for this role.

Not only is she a talented actress from Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Trek, and the Avatar movies, but her looks also fit this part perfectly.

Our next Princess loves to go on magic carpet rides and we would love to relive this adventure again with Jessica Jarrell playing Jasmine in Aladdin

I think this photo already speaks to why she would be perfect for this role. She’s also a great singer and we would love to hear her version of A Whole New World.

Well give you a hint on this Disney Princess. She loves the “Colors Of The Wind” and has a raccoon that is her bestie….it’s the one and only Pocahontas. When we thought of Pocahontas Chanel Iman was the first celebrity that came to mind.

She already looks like the live version of this Disney Princess. Hopefully this will give her inspiration for this year’s Halloween costume.

Tiana from The Princess and the Frog was our first animated black Disney Princess and we think it’s time for this film to be a live animation.

Anika Noni Rose played the voice as Tiana in the original film and they even had the character reflect her looks.

She’s already a perfect match.

This next Disney Princess would do anything to fight for her country and we feel like Ella Balinska would slay playing the fearless Mulian.

She rocked in Charlie’s Angeles and would have no problem standing up for herself.

Rapunzel probably has the longest hair out of all of the other Disney Princesses but that’s why she’s a fan favorite. Vanessa Morgan would make a great Rapunzel.

One of Vanessa’s trademarks is her gorgeous long locks which makes her a winner for this role. In addition, she plays a feisty but loveable character in Riverdale. Now we can’t wait to cast her Flynn.

Merida from Brave is not only a Disney Princess but a Pixar Princess as well. With her curly locks and fierce personality, Alvina August would be our top pick for this role.

Alvina slayed portraying the role of Detective Karen Hart on the CW’s Nancy Drew, we would love to see her as our next Merida.

Our last and most recent Disney Princess that quickly became a fan favorite when she sang How Far I’ll Go is Moana. Marsai Martin would be great to take on this role.

She was great in the movie Little and proves that she won’t back down from anything (no matter her size).

These are our top black female celebrity picks to portray as Disney Princesses. Maybe one of them will get casted (fingers crossed)! Make sure to check out Halle Bailey in The Little Mermaid! We know she will slay singing A Whole New World.
