The Bluest Eye written by Toni Morrison in 1965. It’s a story about a little girl Pecola, who Prayed fervently for a year for blue eyes.

This book offers an in depth look at the real devastation with concept of self image. In the mind of this books character, her perspective is that blue eyes are superior, they represent beauty. Racism, abuse and deep hurts have persuaded some to believe that they are not good enough as they are.
